District Partners with Crossroads NOLA on a Food Truck

Categories: Stories

District Donuts.Sliders.Brew has become an overnight success in Uptown New Orleans.  Now they are taking their show on the road to benefit Crossroads NOLA.

In 2013, Kim Carver – Crossroads NOLA board member and foster/adoptive father – had a crazy idea for a food truck that would provide sustainability to the mission of Crossroads NOLA.  After connecting with the ownership of District, Kim’s dream began to take shape.

In less than a year God opened doors – District developed a business plan for the new endeavor, Gulf Coast Bank donated their streetcar, and Kim led a personal fundraising campaign to fund the transformation of the streetcar into a food truck.

The former passenger vehicle is set to hit the streets in July – serving doughnuts, sliders, and brew (the coffee kind), with all net profits benefitting kids in foster care through the work of Crossroads NOLA.

Beyond the financial sustainability offered through this partnership, Crossroads NOLA is also gaining a valuable advocacy tool.  Through branding and conversation, customers will be directed to the domain wedontservekids.org where they will find information about the nearly 4500 kids in foster care in our state and their great need for permanent connections.
