Crossroads NOLA Partners with NOBTS

nobtsTrauma affects a child’s brain function and behavior. While most foster parents can readily identify troublesome behaviors, they often do not know how to parent a child who has experienced trauma. Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) is a therapy developed for children in foster care and their families. Focused on the challenges of trauma and attachment, the intervention empowers foster and adoptive parents to care for children in a way that allows their brains, not just their bodies, to heal from adverse experiences in their past.

We are excited to partner with Dr. Kristyn Carver on a series of training events to equip foster parents to utilize TBRI principles. In addition, the Leeke Magee Counseling Center at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary offers Crossroads NOLA foster families TBRI counseling sessions at a deeply discounted rate. Foster families and the children in their care have already experienced the benefit of this valuable partnership.
