Children need families Families Need Support

We provide a community of support so you can help children thrive.

  • Trauma-Informed Trainings

We believe foster parents should not only be passionate about what they do ā€“ but they should be competent as well. We offer monthly trainings on Trust-Based Relational InterventionĀ®, an evidence-based caregiving model that gives parents the knowledge and skills they need to bring hope and healing to the lives of children in their care. All trainings are approved by DCFS for foster parent continuing education credits.

  • Parent Coaching & Support

Crossroads has a partnership with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) that allows us to assist and support families as they move through the certification process. Once a family has been certified by DCFS, we provide a variety of support services, which include trainings, resources and other forms of support throughout the foster care/adoption experience. Our team works to build relationships with each foster family ā€“ providing support and resources as children are placed in the home by DCFS.

  • Family Partner Training

Family Partners provide the day-to-day practical support that foster families often need as they adjust to new placements. Crossroads NOLA helps you connect to Family Partners and provides training for them as they help you on your journey.

  • Counseling Services

We have a partnership with the Leeke Magee Counseling Center that allows our foster/adoptive families to access their services at a deeply discounted rate.

  • Community

We want to ensure that no family fosters alone, so we provide online and in-person opportunities for our families to connect with other foster parents.

  • Family Nights

Family Nights are a casual and fun meet up for our foster/adoptive families. We meet up at a local park or playground and provide dinner, giving our families the opportunity to connect with one another.

  • Respite Events

Sometimes foster parents just need a break! We partner with local churches to provide a morning or evening out for foster/adoptive parents - the church provides fun activities for kids, while foster parents go on a date, go to the grocery store without kids, or sit at home and enjoy the silence!

  • Meal Train

Foster parents need to spend the first hours and days that a child is in their home doing what only they can do ā€“ connecting with the child and making him feel safe and loved! Someone else needs to worry about cooking dinner, and there are people within our local churches who want to serve foster families in this way. We mobilize these individuals by activating an online meal train for families when they receive new placements, have one parent out of town, or are working through a transition or difficult period with a child.

  • Resource Center

Through a partnership with One Heart NOLA, our foster/adoptive families have access to the Resource Center stocked with clothes, hygiene items, diapers and sensory items to help meet the needs of children in their care.

  • Support Group/Group Study

We host support groups for foster families on an as-needed basis, providing an opportunity for families to receive training, encouragement, support.
