TBRI Connecting Principles

LIVE Simulcast Training Event
Presented by Dr. Kristyn Carver from Crossroads NOLA and hosted by First Baptist Houma

Children in foster care have experienced trauma in one way or another, and because of these difficult experiences in their young lives, they need to be parented with trauma in mind. Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) is a parenting strategy developed by the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development, designed to promote health and healing for children from hard places.

Some of the hardest work we do as foster parents is connecting to the children in our care. TBRI Connecting Principles give us a framework for connecting with children from a hard place. These principles are the foundation for correcting difficult or challenging behaviors.
